Thoughts on life and death

Remember Candy Chang? We screened her utterly moving TEDTalk «Before I die, I want to…» at last year’s TEDxZurich. Her public art project is now ready for your coffee table in shape of a beautiful book.

Like many of you, we have been following Candy’s project since then and were amazed of how many people all over the world adapted the idea of that simple wall, just being there for people’s wishes and thoughts about the things they love, hope, fear or want to achieve in their lives. Over 300 walls – permanent or temporary – have been built in over 50 countries and 20 languages.

As a result of all this work and participation, a book is coming out in November. You can see a few spreads on the project website already and copies can be pre-ordered at Amazon or your favourite bookstore.

Sarah Ebling

          Sarah Ebling holds a professorship in Accessibility Studies at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and is a senior researcher at the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on natural language processing in the context of disabilities and special needs, specifically, sign language technology and automatic text simplification. Her groups’ contributions involve artificial intelligence techniques with a strong emphasis on user involvement. She is involved in various international and national projects and leads a large-scale Swiss innovation initiative entitled „Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies“ (2022-2026; https://www.iict.uzh.ch/).
