TEDxZurich EVENTS
Apart from our main yearly show, TEDxZurich has been pushing the initiative to have more small scale events throughout the year. These include TEDxZurich Salon events and live screenings of TED talks. With the goal of bringing the existing TEDxZurich community together, the interaction with the audience allows us to take the spirit of TED’s “Ideas Worth Sharing” to the next level and spark action. Trailblazers
2021
As we stand at the beginning of a new decade, we are slowly emerging out of a global pandemic, we have witnessed natural disasters and have felt major civil rights movements. Overall, general uncertainty for the future remains. With all of this, it is easy to get entangled in a downward spiral of negative thoughts. But, let’s take a step back. Let’s realise and admire that we, as a global society, have actually accomplished so much in this time! Through widescale use of digital technology, we are more connected on a global scale than ever before, we have witnessed scientific leaps as the fastest vaccine development efforts in history unfolded and even the groundwork towards space exploration has firmly been set.
Of course, much remains to be done but we firmly believe that, together, we are up for the challenge and can meet these uncertainties head on! So, let’s use this new decade as a jump-off point and choose collaboration over adversary. Let us lead by example, come together and navigate towards a better tomorrow!

The Theme – Connection
In 2018, individually and collectively, people are more connected than ever. With incredibly powerful communication devices at our fingertips at all times, sharing an anonymous opinion is just a click away.
Sharing an opinion however, is not having a conversation. The art of conversation lies in listening, in letting go of our preconceived notions and embracing the idea that there might be more to the story. As well as to connect to the marginalized voices, vying for a say in the noise of the online world.
There’s always a story, an experience, an idea that we can learn from that makes us think critically and challenge our own beliefs. Join us on Friday, November 16 at the SRF Studios and let’s hear these stories, these experiences and ideas worth spreading and commit to action for a more equitable world.

Connecting for Better Decisions
When thinking about democracy we might be reminded of the old fashioned show of hands, as it is still practiced in some parts of Switzerland. But did you know we just had our first blockchain based vote? When taking a closer look we soon find out that democracy cannot be easily defined. Whether in politics or even in places we would never expect to find it – like a fortune 500 company, a bee-hive, in art or journalism.
Join us on the 30th of October to discuss and define democracy at the TEDxZurichSalon.

Limited in size, the Salons are able to explore a more specific variety of topics. The event will feature a screening of a TED talk, followed by live speakers who will delve deeper into the topic of the evening. After the talks, the audience splits up into groups where they have the opportunity to participate in a moderated discussion and are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas.
With the goal of bringing the existing TEDxZurich community together, the interaction with the audience allows us to take the spirit of TED’s “Ideas Worth Sharing” to the next level and spark action. Would you like to join the conversation?
What Moves Us
Today it’s hard to imagine that people were once concerned that the speed of a steam engine might be too fast for humans. Self Driving cars, the Hyperloop, water and air taxis, drones and flying bikes all seem to become part of our reality sooner or later. It’s time to talk about the impact of transportation on society once again. How will this newly gained mobility change how we connect and interact. How does it change our cities, our life, our relationships, our work and our health?
