Nominate for the TEDxZurich Stage

Help us unearth the next big idea

Help us unearth the next big idea

The TEDx community is filled with fascinatingly curious, open-minded and interesting people! Many not only seek out ‘ideas worth spreading’ but also harbour such ideas and cannot wait to share them with the whole world!

We at TEDxZurich love finding inspiring ideas but since we are a group of volunteers, we cannot hope to unearth all these hidden gems on our own. That’s where you come in, our valued community! Do you have an idea that has the potential to change the world? Or perhaps you know of someone whose idea should be shared with a global audience?

Then please get in touch with us by following the links to our application form below!

Our core vales

When planning our events, we abide by the official TEDx Organiser Guide and standards:

· How famous a person is, is irrelevant for our stage. For us, their idea is paramount and must stand in the foreground! Therefore, we look for ideas rather than speakers.
· Speaker credibility is essential. We deal with experts in their fields in order to fully rely on the accuracy of their talk content.
· Importantly, we do not support the spread of pseudoscience nor serve as a self-promotion/advertising platform.

Things to consider when nominating

You can nominate speakers or even apply to become a speaker yourself all year round. However, to increase your chances of seeing your favourite idea on stage or being selected to talk in the same year, we encourage you to apply in the first half of the ongoing year.

You can greatly help us out in our selection process by answering the following questions when nominating someone or applying to become a speaker yourself:

What is the idea?
The idea should be easy and clear to understand. Remember that the audience should grasp the idea the very first time they listen to the talk (for the finer details, they can always re-watch the talk later on 😉 ). A simple message is key to leaving a lasting impression on the audience so that they can tell their friends and family about it afterwards.

Why this idea / what is so powerful about the idea?
Help us understand why you are so passionate about this idea. Your passion is infectious! A passionate delivery resonates with the audience and convinces them of the authenticity of the speaker’s idea.

Why is the idea relevant to the audience?
Great ideas often have one thing in common: universal applicability. Is the idea as relevant to Switzerland as it is to South Africa? Your talk should inspire the audience to change their perception of the world or transform their way of thinking. A call to action is a fantastic way to engage the audience, however great talks can also be given without the addition of a direct call to action.

Are you nominating someone else or are you applying as a speaker yourself?
Please be note that if you are nominating yourself, we additionally request a draft of the talk you have in mind as well as a short video (mention acceptable formats) of you talking about your idea.

Why are you / why is your nominee the right person to give this talk?
At TEDxZurich, we uphold the TED guiding principles. This means that our audience can rely on the credibility and expertise of our speakers. Help us understand what makes you / your nominee the correct person for this talk.
