TEDxZurich
Events

Apart from our main yearly show, TEDxZurich has been pushing the initiative to have more small scale events throughout the year. These include TEDxZurich Salon events and live screenings of TED talks. With the goal of bringing the existing TEDxZurich community together, the interaction with the audience allows us to take the spirit of TED’s “Ideas Worth Sharing” to the next level and spark action. TEDxZurich 2019

TEDxZurich will be celebrating a 10th year of programming, bringing you Ideas Worth Sharing to “The Power of 10”.

Any one of us can find inspiration for hope and humility in looking at our lives over the last 10 years. How can we use this to inform the next 10? How would our lives change, if we knew that we only had 10 months to live? What story would you tell a loved one, if you had 10 minutes to share anything at all? Does that story change with a complete stranger?

Speakers this year will be challenged to deliver deep dives on various topics within 10 minutes or less, providing a dynamic day of talks showing The Power of 10, past, present, and future.

From Farm to Fork

I Think I Know You

If we combine images or videos with AI, do we create a wolf in grandmother’s clothing?

Or should we be more trusting, knowing that this technology will improve, if not save lives? And what would it need to show you to earn your trust? To prove that your trust is worth the risk?

Join us on the 10th of April to discuss this and much more at our next TEDxZurichSalon.

TEDxZurich 2018

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Join us this year on the 16th of November 2018, in Zurich, as we delve into the theme of “Connection” with a wonderful selection of speakers sure to inspire.

A ticket costs CHF 70 and includes:

  • Full day event, sessions from 9 to 16:30 at the SRF Studios
  • Entry to 12 talks, 3 performances and an interactive TEDx experience
  • Lunch, drinks and refreshments

The Theme – Connection

In 2018, individually and collectively, people are more connected than ever. With incredibly powerful communication devices at our fingertips at all times, sharing an anonymous opinion is just a click away.

Sharing an opinion however, is not having a conversation. The art of conversation lies in listening, in letting go of our preconceived notions and embracing the idea that there might be more to the story. As well as to connect to the marginalized voices, vying for a say in the noise of the online world.

There’s always a story, an experience, an idea that we can learn from that makes us think critically and challenge our own beliefs. Join us on Friday, November 16 at the SRF Studios and let’s hear these stories, these experiences and ideas worth spreading and commit to action for a more equitable world.

Connecting for Better Decisions

When thinking about democracy we might be reminded of the old fashioned show of hands, as it is still practiced in some parts of Switzerland. But did you know we just had our first blockchain based vote? When taking a closer look we soon find out that democracy cannot be easily defined. Whether in politics or even in places we would never expect to find it – like a fortune 500 company, a bee-hive, in art or journalism.

Join us on the 30th of October to discuss and define democracy at the TEDxZurichSalon.

What Moves Us

Today it’s hard to imagine that people were once concerned that the speed of a steam engine might be too fast for humans. Self Driving cars, the Hyperloop, water and air taxis, drones and flying bikes all seem to become part of our reality sooner or later. It’s time to talk about the impact of transportation on society once again. How will this newly gained mobility change how we connect and interact. How does it change our cities, our life, our relationships, our work and our health?
