The opportunity

As Head of Partnerships, you will drive TEDxZurich’s growth and sustainability. You will lead our strategy, build a pipeline of sponsors and foundations, and ensure their support is deeply integrated into the TEDxZurich experience. This role is for a relentless go-getter, persistent, passionate, and determined to create opportunities and close deals.

You will use your strong network in Switzerland’s marketing, sponsoring, and business communities (and ideally the foundation sector) to bring partners on board. Working closely with our production, curation, and experience teams, you will craft authentic activations that resonate with partners and our audience. With your energy, you will inspire the team and show how partnerships amplify our mission.

Your responsibilities

  • Sponsorship strategy: Work with the TEDxZurich Lead and the board to shape the overall partnership strategy. Drive the design of partnership models, from flagship sponsors to in-kind supporters. Craft compelling proposals and pitch narratives that connect brands with the TEDxZurich story.
  • Business development: Build and manage a pipeline of potential partners. Identify, approach, and secure sponsorships, foundations, and in-kind contributions to achieve annual partnership goals. Leverage and expand your network across industries and the foundation sector to position TEDxZurich as a premier platform for sponsorship and impact.
  • Partnership management: Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with partners. Manage sponsorships end-to-end, including creating sponsorship packages, negotiating terms, and ensuring fulfillment of agreements. Collaborate with marketing and production teams to maximize partner visibility and impact.
  • Collaboration and team leadership: Work closely with curation, production, and audience experience teams to ensure partners are seamlessly and authentically integrated into events without compromising the TEDx ethos. Lead and energize the partnerships team and the wider organization with your drive, persistence, and passion. Celebrate wins and keep momentum high through long cycles.

Are you a perfect fit?

  • You are a German native speaker and fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • You have proven experience in sales, sponsoring, business development, or fundraising.
  • You bring a strong, active network in marketing, sponsoring, or related industries in Switzerland. A network in the foundation sector is a strong plus.
  • You are a persuasive communicator and storyteller who can craft compelling pitches and proposals.
  • You are resilient, persistent, and thrive in long sales cycles, a relentless go-getter.
  • You are intrinsically motivated and can transmit that passion to the team. You thrive on bringing people together, empowering teams, and turning vision into action.
  • You are passionate about TED’s mission and believe in the power of ideas to change the world.
  • You’re strategic and organized, but also hands-on, adaptable, and pragmatic.

Commitment

This is a volunteer role, requiring an average of 15 hours per week. The intensity varies depending on the event calendar. More time is needed during the planning phase, while the workload decreases as the event date comes closer. You will need consistency, perseverance, and a strong sense of ownership over the partnerships process.

As Head of Marketing and Communication, you will drive TEDxZurich’s growth and sustainability. You will develop and lead our marketing strategy, set communication guidelines, and drive community engagement across all channels. This is a role for someone who combines creativity with discipline — a storyteller with strategic instincts and a hands-on mindset.

You will use your strong network in Switzerland’s marketing, PR, and communication to build on the existing TEDxZurich brand. You will ensure our message is consistent, compelling, and aligned with our values. Working closely with storytelling, design, experience, and partnerships, you will craft a public presence that attracts new audiences, energizes our community, and elevates the TEDxZurich identity.

Your responsibilities

  • Strategy and campaigns: Develop and lead TEDxZurich’s brand and marketing strategy, ensuring a coherent identity across all touchpoints. Plan, coordinate, and execute marketing activities — website, newsletter, social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), and launch initiatives that engage our Zurich community in a creative way. Measure effectiveness, iterate, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Community engagement: Drive audience-facing communication and storytelling to strengthen connection with the community. Plan year-round initiatives that build momentum toward the main event.
  • Event-day marketing: Manage visual assets (speaker slide decks), coordinate photographers/videographers, produce branded materials (with Head of Design), and support ticketing and promotional campaigns (with Head of Event Management).
  • Creative collaboration: Collaborate with Head of Curation and Head of Design to ensure visual identity reflects the theme and TEDx brand consistently; coordinate with Head of Partnerships and Lead to integrate partner visibility into communications meaningfully and brand-aligned.

Are you a perfect fit?

  • You are fluent in English (German is a plus).
  • You have relevant and proven experience in marketing, brand building, communication, and community engagement.
  • You bring a strong, active network in marketing, PR, communication, or related industries in Switzerland.
  • You are skilled with the marketing, user analytics, and collaboration tools.
  • You are creative yet structured — able to craft stories and execute them across channels.
  • You are hands-on, organized, and comfortable coordinating multiple workstreams and have experience leading a team.
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams

As Head of Design, you will drive TEDxZurich’s creative vision and ensure visual coherence across all touchpoints. You will shape the visual identity, design systems, and overall aesthetic experience, both digital and physical, of the TEDx event. This is a role for someone who combines creativity with discipline — a designer with strategic instincts and a hands-on mindset.

You will leverage your expertise in visual storytelling, digital and physical design, to craft immersive visual experiences that resonate with our audience. Working closely with Curation, Marketing & Communications, Event Management, and Partnerships, you will ensure that TEDxZurich’s identity is consistently represented, compelling, and aligned with our values.

Your responsibilities

  • Visual identity & branding: Define and maintain TEDxZurich’s visual identity, including logos, color schemes, typography, and design language across digital and print channels, aligned with the TEDx guidelines.
  • Digital design and content: Oversee website design, digital templates, and social media visuals, ensuring usability, accessibility, and consistency with internal standards.
  • Event design & visual experience: Lead design for physical event spaces—stage setup, lighting/graphics, signage, printed materials, merchandising—ensuring coherence with the theme and overall narrative, to achieve an immersive audience experience.
  • Cross-functional leadership: collaborate with key streams to ensure design consistency and lead a small volunteer design team to deliver high-quality and creative work that creates an impact.

Are you a perfect fit?

  • You are fluent in English.
  • You have relevant and proven experience in visual design, branding, user experience, and event production.
  • You are skilled in digital design tools, print production, and visual storytelling for platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters, and website.
  • You are creative yet structured — able to translate ideas and themes into compelling visual experiences.
  • You are hands-on, organized, and able to manage multiple design workstreams under deadlines.
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams (ideally you have leaderships experience).

  • Ideally, you have experience working with volunteers or are highly motivated to learn.

As Head of Event Management, you will oversee TEDxZurich’s events, ensuring all operational, logistical, and technical elements come together seamlessly for speakers, partners, volunteers, and audiences. You will lead a team of associates across location & catering, volunteers & ticketing, and production, making sure each stream operates smoothly and efficiently.

Working closely with the Heads of Curation, Partnerships, Marketing, and Design, you will ensure that events are executed flawlessly, aligned with TEDxZurich’s vision and annual theme, and delivered on time and within budget. This is a role for someone who combines operational precision with strategic oversight — a leader who keeps all moving parts coordinated while supporting associates to excel in their responsibilities.

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee event preparations: Coordinate location & catering, on-site volunteers & ticketing, and production associates. Ensure their plans align and no operational gaps exist.
  • Lead event-day operations: Serve as the main escalation point, ensuring smooth flow, rapid issue-solving, and on-time program execution.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment: Coordinate with Curation, Design, Marketing, and Partnerships to anticipate needs, resolve conflicts, and maintain operational cohesion.
  • Define standards & processes: Set clear responsibilities, workflows, and operational expectations for associates to ensure efficient execution.
  • Monitor budgets & suppliers: Oversee contracts, supplier relations, and financials for venues, catering, and production.

Are you a perfect fit?

  • You are fluent in English (German is a plus).
  • You have proven experience in event management, operations, and team supervision.
  • You excel at coordinating multiple teams and ensuring smooth execution across streams.
  • You are organized, proactive, and able to solve problems quickly under pressure.
  • You thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments and enjoy guiding associates.
  • You are hands-on when needed but focus on oversight and integration rather than micromanagement.
  • You are passionate about TED’s mission and committed to delivering high-quality events.
  • Ideally, you have experience managing volunteer-driven or complex events with multiple operational streams.

Sarah Ebling

          Sarah Ebling holds a professorship in Accessibility Studies at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and is a senior researcher at the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on natural language processing in the context of disabilities and special needs, specifically, sign language technology and automatic text simplification. Her groups’ contributions involve artificial intelligence techniques with a strong emphasis on user involvement. She is involved in various international and national projects and leads a large-scale Swiss innovation initiative entitled „Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies“ (2022-2026; https://www.iict.uzh.ch/).
